A Fusion of Heritage and Innovation

This collaboration unites two forward-thinking brands aiming to preserve the iconic Land Rover Defender’s legacy while adapting it for a sustainable future. BEDEO provides its revolutionary IWM technology, while Monarch Defender will manage the bespoke craftsmanship, luxury execution, and customer experience for clients in North America and beyond.

The partnership allows Monarch Defender to step into vehicle electrification, meeting a growing customer demand for sustainability without sacrificing the classic Defender’s iconic character. According to Akif Keskin of Monarch Defender, BEDEO’s technology respects the Defender’s original nature while paving the way for a cleaner, future-ready driving experience.

Revolutionary Electric Technology

At the core of this conversion is BEDEO’s in-wheel motor system, a groundbreaking technology developed by its group company, Protean Electric. Launched in 2024, the Reborn Electric: Icons initiative introduced the first classic Land Rover Defender to use this advanced system.

Key advantages of the IWM technology include:

  • Elimination of bulky drivetrains
  • Preservation of the vehicle’s original curb weight
  • Significant weight, space, and off-road capability gains

This proprietary retrofit system is the only one of its kind currently available for classic vehicle conversions and is supported by over 60 million kilometers of proven performance since 2009. The result is a whisper-quiet, zero-emissions classic vehicle fit for the modern world.

A Shared Vision for the Future

Both companies share a deep respect for the Defender’s heritage and a passion for innovation. Osman Boyner, Founder and CEO of BEDEO, noted that the partnership combines BEDEO’s technology with Monarch Defender’s expertise in elevating the customer experience. Monarch Defender will be the first company to integrate in-wheel motors into its classic Defender builds, marking a significant milestone in the luxury restoration industry.

Through this venture, these reimagined classic vehicles will be offered to a wider audience with premium service and full customization options.
