Chassis Hardware and Damping

The CLA 45 4MATIC+ runs a steel-sprung AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive three-way adjustable damping. According to the company, all wheel-guiding components, springs, and dampers were fundamentally revised to raise maximum lateral acceleration while keeping handling predictable at the limit.

Active Aerodynamics on Both Body Styles

Mercedes-AMG describes the active rear spoiler on the sedan and the active roof spoiler on the Shooting Brake as a segment first. Both adjust the vehicle’s aerodynamic balance, adopting different angles depending on the selected drive program or manual activation — flattening to minimize drag for maximum range, or raising to increase downforce for stability.

Supporting them are active front grille shutters, which stay closed at high speeds to cut aerodynamic drag and open only when the powertrain requires additional cooling air.
