MSI has launched the EZgo portable electric vehicle charger in the United States at a starting price of $349. First unveiled at CES 2026, the unit delivers up to 9.6 kW of Level 2 charging power through a portable, UL-certified design aimed at EV owners without access to a hardwired home charging station. The product marks a further step in the Taiwanese computing company’s expansion into EV supply equipment through its dedicated EVSE Business Division.
Highlights
- Portable Level 1/Level 2 EVSE priced at $349 with 9.6 kW peak output
- Quick-swap dual cord system supports NEMA 5-15 (120V) and NEMA 14-50 (240V) outlets
- Five UL certifications, IP66 rating, and 2-ton drive-over durability
- Both J1772 and NACS connector options available, plus 2-year warranty
Dual-Voltage Design for Installation-Free Charging
The EZgo is a plug-in EVSE that does not require hardwired installation, positioning it for EV owners in apartments, condominiums, hotels, and offices. Every unit ships with both a NEMA 5-15 plug for standard 120V household outlets, delivering 1.4 kW, and a NEMA 14-50 plug for 240V outlets, delivering the full 9.6 kW output at up to 40 amps.
MSI designed a proprietary IP66-rated quick-coupling connector to allow users to swap between the two plugs. The system pairs a 25-foot EV cable with a 12-foot power cord for a total reach of 27 feet. Both J1772 and NACS connector variants are offered, covering all major EV brands sold in the US. The dual-voltage, portable Level 2 category has become increasingly crowded, with competitors such as DUEVOLT and Lectron launching similar 9.6 kW units in recent months.

Safety Certifications and Environmental Protection
MSI lists five UL certifications for the EZgo: UL 2594 for charger safety, UL 2231 for human shock protection, UL 2263 for cable safety at 600V and 105°C, UL 94 V0 for fire resistance, and UL 746C for weatherproof plastics. The housing carries an IP66 dust and water resistance rating, and MSI states the unit has passed a 2-ton drive-over test.
A thermal sensor in the plug is designed to detect heat buildup and cut power before damage occurs. Onboard electrical protections cover over- and under-voltage, overload, over-temperature, ground fault, and DC leakage conditions.
Onboard Controls and App Integration
A 1.8-inch LCD screen on the unit displays real-time voltage, current draw, temperature, charge status, and error codes, while two physical buttons allow direct amp adjustment and charge scheduling without requiring a phone. A multi-color LED status bar provides visual feedback.
For app-based control, the free aConnect app for iOS and Android connects via Bluetooth and supports remote start/stop, charge scheduling for off-peak electricity rates, energy usage tracking, and estimated cost monitoring. The EZgo also supports Bluetooth multi-user sharing without requiring device binding, which MSI says makes it suitable for multi-driver households or small business settings.
Kit Contents, Warranty, and Availability
The EZgo ships as a complete kit that includes both NEMA power cords, a wall-mount charger holder, a metal cable management hook, installation hardware, and a carry bag measuring approximately 18 x 14 x 5 inches. Color options are Matte White and Titan Grey.
MSI backs the unit with a 2-year warranty supported by US-based service infrastructure including a call center, RMA center, and live chat. “With EZgo, we want every EV driver in America to have a reliable, intelligent charging option that goes wherever they go. Whether you’re charging at home, at the office, at a hotel, or out camping, the EZgo delivers the power and safety you need, without frustration or complexity,” said James Su of the MSI EVSE Business Division.
The MSI EZgo is available in the US directly from MSI and through major online retailers, including Amazon.
