Lectron, a prominent name in electric vehicle (EV) charging hardware, has announced the launch of a new series of smart EV chargers. This new lineup includes six distinct chargers designed for both Tesla (NACS) and J1772 charging standards, the most common in the United States. The key enhancement across the product line is the integration of WiFi connectivity, which allows users to control and monitor their charging sessions through the dedicated Lectron App.

Key Highlights

  • Lectron has released a new line of smart chargers compatible with both Tesla NACS and J1772 EVs.
  • The new chargers feature WiFi connectivity and integrate with the Lectron App for advanced control.
  • The lineup includes portable Level 1 and Level 2 chargers as well as the V-BOX Pro home charging station.
  • App features include performance analysis, scheduled charging, and power management settings.
  • The smart chargers are now available for purchase through major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and The Home Depot.

Enhanced Charging for Modern EVs

The introduction of smart features marks a significant evolution for Lectron’s already popular charging solutions. By connecting the chargers to a home WiFi network, EV owners can unlock a suite of powerful tools via the Lectron App on their smartphones. Users can analyze performance data to track charging efficiency and trends over time.

A major benefit is the scheduled charging feature, which enables drivers to take advantage of lower electricity rates during off-peak hours, potentially reducing their energy costs. The app also allows for setting specific kilowatt caps to better manage a household’s total energy consumption during a charging session.

A Model for Every Driver

Lectron’s new smart lineup caters to a variety of charging needs and scenarios.

  • Portable Level 1 EV Charger: Ideal for standard 110V outlets, this charger is available in 15-amp and 12-amp models. It can provide up to 50 miles of range with an overnight charge, making it a convenient option for trickle charging at home or on the go.
  • Portable Level 2 EV Charger: For those needing faster charging without a permanent installation, this 40-amp charger uses a NEMA 14-50 outlet. It delivers a significantly quicker charge, adding up to 36 miles of range per hour.
  • V-BOX Pro Level 2 EV Charging Station: This powerful home charging station is built for daily use and offers adjustable amperage settings. It provides up to 46 miles of range per hour, serving as a robust alternative to relying on public charging infrastructure.

All models are available in versions compatible with either J1772 or Tesla’s NACS standard. The Tesla-compatible variants feature a native connector, which means no adapter is required for Tesla owners.

Availability and Incentives

According to Lectron CEO Christopher Maiwald, the new chargers were designed to meet the evolving needs of EV drivers by offering reliability, speed, and flexibility. Owners who purchase the Level 2 chargers may also be eligible for various federal, state, or utility rebates and tax incentives designed to promote EV adoption.

The full line of Lectron smart EV chargers is available now online and in stores at retailers including Lectron, Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, The Home Depot, and Lowe’s.
