NIO Expands Battery Swap Network in Europe

NIO continues to expand its network of Power Swap Stations (PSS) in Europe, offering a convenient and flexible battery-swapping solution for its users. The latest additions to the network, two third-generation PSS 3.0 stations in Malmö and Arlandastad, Sweden, can perform up to 408 battery swaps per day and store 21 batteries.

Industry-Standard Battery Swapping

NIO’s PSS technology is an industry standard for battery swapping, offering a faster and more efficient alternative to traditional charging. In addition to the new stations in Sweden, NIO has opened 30 PSS locations across Denmark, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden since January 2022.

Flexible Battery Swaps for 98% of European Users

The PSS infrastructure is available to 98% of NIO users who subscribe to the company’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) leasing model. This allows users to own their vehicle without committing to a single battery and enjoy the flexibility of upgrading or downgrading their battery to suit their needs.

Protecting Residual Values

NIO’s BaaS model is also designed to protect the residual values of smart EVs. By allowing users to refresh their battery throughout ownership, NIO eliminates any concerns regarding battery degradation and ensures that their vehicles remain valuable assets.

More Efficient, More Convenient

The latest third-generation PSS 3.0 infrastructure can perform up to 408 swaps per day, with storage for 21 vehicle batteries at each location. Designed to maximize the flexibility and convenience of EV usership, NIO’s technology allows a rapid battery swap in less than three minutes, without the need for users to leave the car or wait to recharge.

Expanding Network

NIO’s commitment to the European market is evident in its ongoing expansion plans. With five PSS 3.0 locations and 25 other PSS locations opened across Europe since January 2022, the company is building a comprehensive network that caters to the needs of its growing user base.

Additional Benefits

NIO’s third-generation PSS 3.0 locations are equipped with a 2-megawatt hour (MWh) energy storage system, designed to feed energy back into the grid if required. PSS 3.0 users will also benefit from an even faster battery-swapping experience, available in less than three minutes and accelerated by up to 20%.

Looking Ahead

NIO’s continued investment in its PSS technology and infrastructure demonstrates its commitment to providing a convenient and sustainable electric vehicle ownership experience for its European users. With ambitious expansion plans and a focus on innovation, NIO is well-positioned to lead the way in the European EV market.tunesharemore_vertadd_photo_alternate
