NIO’s Power Swap Station 4.0 Launches

NIO has launched the first batch of Power Swap Station 4.0, offering automated battery swapping for multiple brands and vehicle models. The fourth-generation stations enhance convenience, speed, and capacity, featuring advanced technology and increased battery accommodation. NIO, ONVO, and strategic partners can access these stations, which also introduced a high-power liquid-cooled charger.

Key Highlights

  • Advanced Technology: Equipped with six ultrawide-FOV LiDARs and four Orin X chips, providing 1,016TOPS computing power.
  • Speed and Efficiency: 22% faster than the previous generation, completing swaps in 144 seconds.
  • Increased Capacity: Can accommodate 23 batteries and perform up to 480 swaps per day.
  • New Charging Solution: Introduction of the 640kW Liquid-Cooled Power Charger, capable of a maximum current of 765A and voltage of 1,000V.

The Power Swap Station 4.0 includes six ultrawide-FOV LiDARs and four Orin X chips, ensuring a total computing power of 1,016TOPS. Users can initiate an automatic battery swap with a single tap on the center display or remotely. The station is 22% faster than the third generation, performing swaps in just 144 seconds. With an enlarged compartment, it can accommodate 23 batteries, enabling up to 480 swaps per day.

Enhanced Charging Capabilities

Launched alongside the new station, the 640kW Liquid-Cooled Power Charger features a maximum current of 765A and a voltage of 1,000V. The liquid-cooled charging cable, developed by NIO, weighs only 2.4kg, making it easy for one-hand operation.

Strategic Installations

The first new stations were installed in Guangzhou’s Liwan District and the Luoji Service Area on the G40 Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway. The Guangzhou station is the city’s 108th and connects multiple trunk roads, including the S15 Guangzhou-Foshan Expressway and the Airport Expressway. This station enhances the battery charging and swapping network in the Pearl River Delta.

The G40 Expressway station in Lu’an, Anhui Province is the first station jointly established by NIO and Zhongan Energy after their strategic partnership agreement on March 22. Future plans include deploying more all-in-one stations, capable of solar power generation and energy storage, across Anhui Province and expanding to the Yangtze River Delta.

Commitment to Infrastructure

NIO remains dedicated to developing charging and swapping technologies. As of June 13, NIO has installed 2,432 Power Swap Stations and 22,633 chargers in China, including 804 swap stations and 1,650 super chargers on highways. NIO holds the largest battery swapping and charging network in China, continuing to enhance the recharging experience for its users.

NIO’s ongoing efforts in infrastructure development and technology innovation highlight its commitment to providing a superior recharging experience, surpassing traditional refueling methods.
