Nissan has announced a major partnership with Octopus Energy to launch a next-generation Nissan Charge app, significantly enhancing the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience for its customers across Europe. By integrating Octopus Energy’s acclaimed EV charging platform, Electroverse, the new app provides Nissan drivers with a smarter, smoother, and more accessible way to power their vehicles.
Key Highlights
- Nissan has partnered with Octopus Energy to launch an enhanced Nissan Charge app powered by the Electroverse platform.
- The app provides seamless access to over 1 million public charging points from more than 1,200 operators throughout Europe.
- New features include real-time charger availability, advanced filtering by speed and plug type, and exclusive pricing with participating networks.
- The updated app is now available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Future integrations will include advanced technologies like Plug & Charge (PnC) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G).
A Smarter, More Integrated Charging Experience
The collaboration marks a significant investment by Nissan in its digital infrastructure, aiming to remove common barriers to EV ownership. The new Nissan Charge app delivers a faster, more intuitive interface that simplifies the entire charging process. With an effortless setup, drivers can create an account in minutes and request a free Nissan Charge card to begin using the service.
By leveraging the Electroverse network, which adds an average of 500 chargers daily, users gain access to one of Europe’s most extensive charging networks. The app includes a powerful discovery tool that helps drivers locate available chargers in real-time. Users can filter results by charging speed and plug type, ensuring they find a compatible and efficient station for their needs. The platform also offers access to special discounts through participating charging networks, such as IONITY, Allego, Aral pulse, and TotalEnergies.
Advanced Features and Future Innovations
To further streamline the experience, the Nissan Charge app introduces several key functions designed for both daily commutes and long-distance travel. Dynamic pricing insights provide users with transparent, real-time cost information, helping them optimize their charging expenses. The app also allows for seamless payment integration with options like Google or Apple Pay, making transactions quick and hassle-free.
“The new Nissan Charge app is an important step in our mission to make electric driving seamless and accessible,” said Soufiane El Khomri, Director at Nissan Energy. “By introducing future-ready features, we’re not only helping drivers connect to Europe’s vast charging network, but we’re also laying the foundation for EVs to play an active role in the energy system of tomorrow.”
Matt Davies, Director at Octopus Electroverse, added, “By bringing our cutting-edge technology into the Nissan Charge app, we’re delivering the best of Electroverse—simple access to 80% of all chargers across Europe, money-saving discounts, and quick, hassle-free payments.”
A Strategic Vision for Electrification
This app update is part of Nissan’s broader vision to create an integrated energy and mobility platform called MyNissan. Looking ahead, the company plans to introduce more groundbreaking features, including Plug & Charge (PnC), which will make public charging even more secure and seamless. Additionally, the development of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology will enable EV owners to support grid stabilization by feeding energy back into the system, potentially reducing their home charging costs.
This initiative aligns perfectly with Nissan’s long-term electrification goals, from its EV36Zero initiative to the upcoming launch of next-generation models like the all-new MICRA and LEAF. The partnership with Octopus Energy solidifies Nissan’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and user-friendly ecosystem for its electric vehicle drivers.
