The Japanese automaker’s Formula E squad is focused on maintaining stability to enhance its operations both on and off the track. By retaining the same drivers, the team seeks to capitalize on the positive momentum from Season 11 and push for even better results.
Oliver Rowland, the British driver, is entering his sixth season with Nissan Formula E Team under a multi-year agreement. He first joined the team in Season 5, Nissan’s debut year in the series, and raced for three seasons before returning in Season 10. His outstanding performance in the latest campaign included securing the Drivers’ Championship title, demonstrating his strong synergy with the team.
Norman Nato, the French driver, is set for his third season with the squad and his second consecutive one. Nato initially joined in Season 9, where he delivered the team’s first podium under full Nissan ownership in Rome. After a brief hiatus, he rejoined Rowland, showcasing consistent speed and contributing to the team’s overall success.
Team principal Tommaso Volpe emphasized the importance of consistency, stating that the stable lineup will help consolidate operations and drive further improvements. He expressed confidence in challenging for championships again.
Rowland shared his enthusiasm for the extension, noting the remarkable achievements since his return and his trust in the team. He highlighted the need for hard work in the off-season to replicate and surpass last season’s results.

Nato echoed similar sentiments, expressing delight in continuing with the team. He believes the continuity will allow him to build on lessons from Season 11 and partner effectively with Rowland to contend for the Teams’ Championship.
Nissan entered Formula E in Season 5 as the first and only Japanese manufacturer in the series. The company has committed to the GEN3 era through Season 12 and beyond, including supplying EV powertrain technology to McLaren Racing. In a significant move, Nissan acquired the e.dams race team in April 2022, taking full ownership of its Formula E involvement.
The automaker has further pledged long-term participation by signing up for the GEN4 era until 2030, aligning with its Ambition 2030 electrification goals. Nissan aims to achieve carbon neutrality across operations and product life cycles by 2050, intending to electrify all new vehicle offerings in key markets by the early 2030s.
Formula E serves as a platform for Nissan to transfer racing technology to road vehicles, promoting zero-emission electric vehicles globally. The championship itself is powered entirely by electricity and has been certified with a net zero carbon footprint since its inception, offsetting emissions through climate-protecting projects.
All cars compete on street circuits, with manufacturers testing advanced electric technologies to combat air pollution and climate change in urban areas.
