Nissan’s NissanConnect services allow electric vehicle owners to remotely preheat or cool their vehicle cabins before entering, addressing a common pain point during extreme weather conditions. The functionality is available across Nissan’s EV lineup, including the ARIYA, All New LEAF, All New MICRA, and TOWNSTAR van.
Highlights
- NissanConnect smartphone app provides remote climate control, allowing owners to warm cabins and defrost windows before departing
- System offers comprehensive vehicle monitoring including battery state of charge, vehicle location, and charging history
- Third-generation Nissan LEAF production will begin at Sunderland as part of the EV36Zero manufacturing initiative
- All-electric MICRA marks sixth generation of the model line with responsive handling and intuitive technology
Remote Access Capabilities
NissanConnect technology enables owners to access vehicle functions through a dedicated smartphone application. Key features include monitoring battery charge status, tracking vehicle location, reviewing charging history, and controlling cabin temperature.
The climate control function operates bidirectionally, preheating the cabin during winter months or cooling the interior during warm weather. Window defrosting capabilities are included to improve visibility before departure.
In-Vehicle Connectivity
While driving, NissanConnect services support hands-free calling, music streaming, trip planning, and smart home device integration. Voice control functionality allows occupants to manage vehicle functions without manual input.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility comes standard across the EV range for owners who prefer smartphone mirroring.
Nissan LEAF Production History
Since its 2010 debut, the Nissan LEAF has achieved approximately 700,000 global sales, establishing itself as the first mass-market electric vehicle. The third-generation model is manufactured in the United Kingdom at Nissan’s Sunderland facility.
EV36Zero Manufacturing Initiative
Nissan’s EV36Zero project at Sunderland Plant integrates electric vehicle production, renewable energy generation, and battery manufacturing. The facility employs approximately 7,000 workers across UK operations, including design centers in Paddington, London, and R&D engineering facilities in Cranfield.
The European-specification LEAF will join Juke and Qashqai production at Sunderland as part of Nissan’s sustainable manufacturing strategy.
