OneD Battery Sciences has successfully completed and commissioned its SINANODE pilot production line in Moses Lake, Washington, marking a significant milestone in scaling up production for the global battery market. This achievement represents a critical step forward in the company’s efforts to meet the growing demand for advanced silicon anode materials.

Over the past year, the SINANODE Pilot project progressed through various stages, starting with initial hires and construction design, breaking ground in October 2023, equipment installation in April 2024, and finally, startup and commissioning in July 2024. This milestone was made possible through close collaboration between OneD’s team, its general contractor Dahlgren Industrial, and various other partners. Key contributors included Advanced Material Solutions, Meier Architecture • Engineering, Royal HaskoningDHV, Grant County PUD, and CVD Equipment Corporation. Additionally, REC Silicon, a crucial silane supplier, inspected and approved the bulk Silane off-loading station, ensuring safe operation.
“Today’s milestone showcases the result of excellent teamwork between our Operations team and our general contractor and its many subcontractors, and the training and support provided by the OneD R&D team from our Palo Alto headquarters,” said Jan-Marc Luchies, Chief Operating Officer at OneD.
The pilot plant’s initial production runs have successfully matched the performance of anode materials produced at OneD’s R&D facility in Palo Alto, California.
“We have spent many years perfecting the SINANODE process steps to ensure that these steps can be transferred and scaled-up efficiently at other locations,” said Yimin Zhu, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer.
Looking ahead, OneD is planning visits to the Moses Lake plant for customers and partners, aiming to showcase the key metrics that highlight the SINANODE process’s cost efficiency and scalability.
