Polestar 4, the latest innovation from the Swedish electric performance car brand, has officially hit the market in Europe and Australia. With a starting price of EUR 63,200 and AUD 81,500, this model follows its successful introduction in China at the end of 2023. Production is set to commence in mid-2024, with the first deliveries anticipated in August.

Blending the sleek aerodynamics of a coupé with the spaciousness of an SUV, the Polestar 4 introduces a novel SUV coupé category. It stands as the quickest production car in the Polestar lineup, nestled between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in size and cost.

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, emphasizes the significance of this launch: “The introduction of Polestar 4 into all our markets through the course of 2024 is key to our success, adding this third model to our line-up. Polestar 4 tackles the premium performance class in the D-SUV segment. Polestar 4’s innovative interpretation of an SUV coupé offers great interior space and a stunning appearance.”

Design Features: The Polestar 4’s design, inspired by the Polestar Precept concept, introduces groundbreaking elements. Notably, the rear window is eliminated, enhancing the rear occupants’ experience. The distinct Polestar light signature and emblem lighting further accentuate its design. Aerodynamic efficiency is a priority, evidenced by the low nose, retractable door handles, and specialized rear aero blades.

Constructed on the Geely Holding’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the Polestar 4 boasts impressive dimensions and a luxurious interior. The absence of a rear window extends the full-length glass roof, offering a unique ambiance. Advanced technology replaces the rear-view mirror with a high-definition screen, displaying a feed from a roof-mounted camera.

Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design, remarks on the innovative rear design, enhancing the SUV coupé experience for rear passengers.

Sustainability Initiatives: Polestar revealed in late 2023 that the Polestar 4 has the lowest carbon footprint at launch among its models. Production in Geely Holdings’ SEA factory incorporates green and photovoltaic electricity, with significant use of low-carbon aluminium. The interior features recycled and sustainable materials, including 100% recycled PET textiles and bio-attributed MicroTech vinyl.

Performance Capabilities: As the fastest production car in its range, the Polestar 4 achieves 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a maximum output of 400 kW (544 hp). Both dual- and single-motor variants are available, ensuring a balance of high performance and control. The Long range Dual motor version boasts up to 580 km WLTP, while the Single motor version targets up to 610 km WLTP.

Technological Advancements: The infotainment system, powered by Android Automotive OS, features a 15.4-inch screen with Google integration. Safety technologies include the SuperVision Advanced Driver Assistance System and a comprehensive array of cameras and sensors.

About Polestar: Polestar (Nasdaq: PSNY) is committed to accelerating sustainable mobility through design and technology. Headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, and with a presence in over 27 global markets, Polestar aims to launch five performance EVs by 2026. The Polestar 0 project furthers their ambition for a climate-neutral production car by 2030.
