Polestar 4’s double win in South Korea marks a big moment for the Swedish electric car brand. The Car of the Year award, handed out by Joongang Ilbo on March 14 in Seoul, came after a jury of journalists, designers, professors, and researchers reviewed 15 new cars from 13 brands. Jury member Kim Jin-pyo praised its exterior design and performance, saying, “Among the candidate vehicles, it stands out the most in terms of exterior design and performance.” Head judge Jung Seung-ryeol added, “It well reflects the feel of a European SUV, and has shown performance beyond expectations in driving performance and safety.”
Just days later, the Automotive Writer Association of Korea named Polestar 4 the Design Car of the Year after evaluating 35 models from 2024. Lead exterior designer Subum Lee explained the car’s bold look, stating, “Innovation lies not only in novelty, but in seeing things from a different perspective, such as designing it without a rear window to create more rear interior space.” These awards join others Polestar 4 has snagged globally, like ‘Executive Car’ in the UK and ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ under $100,000 in Australia.

Michael Lohscheller, Polestar’s CEO, beamed with pride, saying, “Winning Car of the Year in South Korea, one of the world’s most advanced EV markets, is a great achievement for Polestar.” The company plans to start making Polestar 4 in Busan, South Korea, in 2025, adding to its production sites in North America and Asia.
Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Polestar is all about electric performance and sustainability. The brand’s goals are ambitious: halve greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle sold by 2030 and become climate-neutral by 2040. With its sleek design, top-notch performance, and green focus, Polestar 4 is set to shake up the electric vehicle world.
