Design

The Polestar 5’s design remains remarkably faithful to the Precept concept, featuring a modern, minimalist aesthetic. Its aerodynamic profile is inspired by aviation, with taut surfacing and a Kamm-style tail. The front incorporates the brand’s SmartZone, which houses sensors and cameras, alongside signature dual-blade headlights with Pixel LED technology. To maintain its sleek profile without sacrificing interior space, the car utilizes a digital rearview mirror and a virtual rear window, similar to the Polestar 4. A large panoramic glass roof, measuring over six feet long, enhances the sense of space for rear occupants. The vehicle achieves an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.24.

Interior and Sustainability

Inside, the Polestar 5 is designed as a luxury 4+1 seater, focusing equally on the driver and passengers. Front seats developed with Recaro offer a low, performance-oriented seating position with exceptional support and comfort. Rear passengers benefit from individually reclining seats, their own climate controls, and heating. The cabin showcases a commitment to sustainability, with innovative materials throughout. BCompTM natural fiber composites, made from flax, are used in the seatbacks, offering a bio-based alternative to carbon fiber. Other materials include recycled PET for the headlining and Econyl carpets made from recycled fishing nets. The driver-focused cockpit includes a 9-inch display mounted on the steering column and a 9.5-inch head-up display.

Exterior

Technology

The Polestar 5 is equipped with advanced technology centered around a 14.5-inch portrait display running an Android Automotive OS with Google built-in. This system integrates Google Maps and allows for extensive user customization. For audio, customers can choose between a standard 10-speaker system or an optional 21-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are integral, with the vehicle featuring 11 cameras, one radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to support functions like Pilot Assist at speeds up to 93 mph.

Performance and Architecture

The vehicle is built on the all-new Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA), a bespoke bonded aluminum platform. This structure provides torsional rigidity higher than that of many two-seat supercars while remaining lightweight. The 112 kWh lithium-ion battery is integrated into the platform’s structure. The chassis features a sophisticated front double wishbone suspension and powerful Brembo four-piston brake calipers. The Polestar 5 Performance model includes BWI MagneRide adaptive dampers, which can adjust to road conditions up to 1,000 times per second for superior control and comfort.

Powertrain and Charging

The Polestar 5’s impressive power comes from a dual-motor setup, including an in-house developed rear motor. The Polestar 5 Performance model delivers a total of 650 kW (884 hp) and 1,015 Nm (749 lb-ft) of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. The standard Dual motor version completes the same sprint in 3.8 seconds. Both models have an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Thanks to its 800V architecture, the Polestar 5 can charge at speeds up to 350 kW, allowing the battery to go from 10-80% in as little as 22 minutes.

The Polestar 5 is now available for order in select markets, with North American pricing and availability details to be announced at a later date.
