Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car brand, is expanding its retail footprint by adding ten new sales locations across Sweden over the next three months. This move more than doubles its current outlets, aligning with a global strategy to enhance its active sales model. Partnering with new retailers, Polestar aims to bring its innovative electric vehicles, including the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, closer to customers. This expansion reflects the company’s strong growth, evidenced by a 62.4% sales increase in 2024, according to Mobility Sweden.

Key Highlights:

  • New Partnerships: Four new retail partners—Bilbolaget Nord, Tage Rejmes Bil AB, Helmia Car, and Bilia—will support the rollout of ten additional locations.
  • Strategic Locations: Sales will begin in cities like Gävle, Sundsvall, Umeå, Linköping, Norrköping, Örebro, Karlstad, Eskilstuna, Västerås, and Jägersro (Malmö).
  • Timeline: New outlets will open progressively through April 2025, with some already accepting orders, such as Bilbolaget Nord in Umeå.

This expansion builds on Polestar’s existing presence in nine Swedish cities, including Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö. Gustav Freij, Head of Sweden at Polestar, emphasizes the importance of this growth: “The expansion of our retail network follows the expansion of the company’s product portfolio with the new models Polestar 3 and Polestar 4. We are therefore pleased to be able to add many new partners in the coming time, which means we get closer to customers and can offer even more people the opportunity to experience our fantastic, electric performance cars.” Customers can visit these locations or book test drives online at Polestar’s website to explore models like the popular Polestar 2.

The company’s momentum in Sweden is notable. In 2024, Polestar nearly doubled its market share, delivering 5,909 vehicles. In January 2025 alone, it ranked as the third-largest electric car brand in Sweden, holding an 8.36% market share in the electric vehicle segment, per Mobility Sweden. This success underscores Polestar’s commitment to sustainable mobility and its goal to halve greenhouse gas emissions per car sold by 2030.

Polestar, headquartered in Gothenburg, operates in 27 global markets and continues to innovate with its lineup, which currently includes the Polestar 2, 3, and 4. Future models, such as the Polestar 5 (a four-door GT) and Polestar 6 (a roadster), are slated for release in 2025, with the Polestar 7 compact SUV to follow. With over 140 service points nationwide and plans for further growth, Polestar is positioning itself as a leader in Sweden’s electric vehicle market while advancing its climate-neutral vision by 2040.
