Swedish electric performance car brand Polestar has officially entered the French market, making its full lineup of electric vehicles available for order. This expansion marks France as the 28th global market for the company, signaling a significant step in its continued growth across Europe and solidifying its presence on four continents.
Key Highlights:
- Polestar has commenced sales in France, one of Europe’s most rapidly expanding EV markets.
- The entire current vehicle lineup, including the Polestar 2, Polestar 3, and Polestar 4, is now available to French consumers.
- A hybrid sales model combines direct online sales with a network of physical retail locations.
- The first French retail “Space” is scheduled to open in Le Mans in July, with up to ten more locations planned by the end of the year.
- A robust service network of over 100 points across France is immediately available to customers.
Market Entry and Strategy
Polestar’s entry into the French market utilizes a dual approach to sales. Consumers can order vehicles directly through the company’s website, reflecting a modern direct-to-consumer strategy. This is complemented by a plan to establish several physical retail sites, known as Polestar Spaces, leveraging select retail partners from the established Volvo Cars network.
The inaugural French location will open in the iconic racing village of Le Mans in July. This will be followed by a rapid expansion into as many as ten other key cities during the second half of 2024. According to Stephane Le Guevel, Managing Director of Polestar France, the company has an “ambitious expansion plan,” aiming for up to ten sales points by 2025 and further acceleration in 2026. This strategy is supported from day one by a nationwide service network with over 100 locations.

Leadership and Future Outlook
Polestar’s leadership expressed confidence in the brand’s potential within the French market. CEO Michael Lohscheller stated, “We are very excited to bring our portfolio of performance EVs to France, one of Europe’s fastest growing EV markets.” He noted the positive reception the vehicles have already received from French media.
The brand’s identity, which centers on performance, design, and sustainability, is seen as a strong match for French consumer interests. Looking ahead, Polestar plans to introduce new models, including the Polestar 5 four-door GT in 2025 and the Polestar 6 roadster. The company is also committed to sustainability, with a goal to halve greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality across its value chain by 2040. This commitment guides its operations, from manufacturing on two continents to future production planned for Europe.
