US-based Porsche Taycan owners now have the ability to use Apple® Maps EV Routing, thanks to a collaboration between Apple® and Porsche Digital Inc. This new feature, integrated within Apple CarPlay®, allows drivers to plot routes that include EV charging stations, all without leaving the CarPlay® ecosystem. The functionality of the feature takes into account the vehicle’s state of charge (SOC), the locations of charging stations, and the estimated charging times.

Every Taycan comes equipped with the Porsche Charging Planner, an existing tool that optimizes stops based on the projected state of charge upon arrival, traffic conditions, and the driver’s average speed. The integration with Apple® Maps EV Routing builds on this, offering an additional layer of flexibility for drivers. Apple® Maps EV routing uses real-time vehicle information to navigate to the destination, and recommends charging stops when necessary. It also analyses elevation changes along the route and other factors to identify suitable charging stations. If the vehicle’s charge becomes critically low, it will reroute the driver to the nearest compatible charging station.
