Qmerit, a leader in EV charging solutions, has partnered with Dominion Energy Virginia to expand residential electric vehicle (EV) charging accessibility for Virginia customers. Under Dominion’s new Residential Charger Program, customers can now spread out the cost of Level 2 home chargers through monthly utility bills, reducing the initial financial burden. For income-qualified customers, installation and charging equipment are provided at no cost.
The partnership is aimed at accelerating EV adoption by simplifying and lowering the costs of home charger installations. Qmerit serves as Dominion Energy Virginia’s preferred installer for this program, offering streamlined services by certified electricians, with a five-year warranty included for both the equipment and installation.
Key Highlights:
- Reduced upfront cost: Customers can finance Level 2 home chargers via monthly utility bills.
- No-cost option for eligible customers: Income-qualified customers receive equipment and installation at no cost.
- High-quality service: Qmerit’s certified electricians provide the installation, backed by a five-year warranty.
“This partnership reduces a key barrier to broader EV adoption in Virginia,” said Bianca Sloma, Qmerit’s vice president of utility solutions. “Customers now have easy access to home charger implementation services that are streamlined, skilled and trusted.”
After completing a pre-qualification form, eligible Dominion Energy Virginia customers are referred to a Qmerit advisor who gathers necessary details on charging needs and home specifications. Certified electricians from Qmerit’s vetted workforce handle the installation, ensuring high-quality service throughout the process.
“This partnership underscores how important workforce solutions and cross-sector teaming are to America’s electrification journey,” said Tom Bowen, president of Qmerit solutions. “It’s one thing to create a new technology – it’s another to have the ecosystem in place to make it consumer-ready.”
Qmerit has forged strategic utility partnerships nationwide, now including Dominion Energy Virginia. These partnerships involve over two million homes across the U.S., helping make residential EV charging more affordable and accessible. Qmerit’s other utility collaborations include Salt River Project, Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), and Cobb EMC, further enhancing its reach in promoting EV adoption. In addition to these utility partnerships, Qmerit has alliances with major automakers such as GM, Ford, Tesla, and Toyota, contributing significantly to the growth of the EV charging infrastructure in North America.
