Rivian R1T Named Edmunds’ Top Rated Electric Truck

Rivian's R1T pickup has won Edmunds' Top Rated Electric Truck award for 2026, marking its second consecutive year taking the title, with Edmunds citing range, power, and ongoing software refinement.

Rivian’s R1T pickup has been named Edmunds’ Top Rated Electric Truck for 2026, marking the second consecutive year the truck has earned the distinction. The award, given annually by the automotive research and shopping platform, credits the R1T with continued software refinement, on- and off-road capability, and its overall electric range. Rivian points to years of over-the-air updates and owner feedback as contributors to the truck’s evolution since its original debut. Edmunds also cited the R1T’s versatility as a factor behind the repeat honor.

Highlights

  • The Quad-Motor R1T produces 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft of torque, reaching 0-60 mph in as quick as 2.5 seconds, according to Rivian.
  • The Tri-Motor variant offers 850 horsepower with an EPA-estimated range of up to 371 miles.
  • The Dual-Motor Performance variant reaches 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds and offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 420 miles.
  • This is the second consecutive year the R1T has received Edmunds’ Top Rated Electric Truck designation.

Edmunds Cites Years of Refinement

Edmunds’ review pointed to the cumulative effect of Rivian’s software updates and engineering changes since the R1T’s launch, writing that those refinements have made it the first electric pickup the publication recommends without reservation. In its review, Edmunds wrote:

“A repeat winner of this award, the Rivian R1T is a superb electric truck. Recent updates have only enhanced its appeal: It’s versatile, great to drive both on- and off-road, and offers an impressive electric range. The most stylish EV truck is also the best.”

Power and Range Across the R1T Lineup

Rivian’s Gen 2 R1T lineup spans three motor configurations, each targeting a different balance of power and range. According to Rivian, performance and range figures vary based on battery, tires, drive mode, and other factors, and official range figures reflect EPA testing.

Dual-Motor (Performance)665 hp3.4 secUp to 420 miles
Tri-Motor850 hp2.9 secUp to 371 miles
Quad-Motor1,025 hp2.5 secUp to 374 miles

Rivian states the Quad-Motor variant also runs the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds in Launch Mode and can accelerate from 60 to 80 mph in as little as 1.5 seconds, aided by 1,198 lb-ft of torque and per-wheel torque control the company says improves both on-road handling and off-road traction.

Edmunds Praises R1T’s Value

Beyond performance, Edmunds credited the R1T with strong value, pointing to a combination of luxury features, sports-car-like acceleration, and rugged utility that the publication said sets it apart from other trucks in the segment. Rivian said the recognition reflects continued input from its owner community, whose feedback and driving data have shaped software updates to the truck over time. Prospective buyers can schedule a demo drive through Rivian to test the R1T firsthand.
