January 2025 Construction Update
A major milestone was reached this month with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Scout Motors Drive Interchange Project, attended by South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) officials, local leaders, and Scout Motors executives. This new interchange will provide a direct I-77 connection to efficiently manage truck traffic and drive regional development.
SCDOT Secretary Justin Powell emphasized the project’s importance, stating:
“We are excited to begin the construction phase of this project that will be vital to continuing development in Blythewood and the surrounding areas. SCDOT is committed to keeping people and products flowing through our state and we are looking forward to doing that alongside Scout Motors and the community.”
Meanwhile, construction of the facility’s main structures remains on track:
- The assembly building is rapidly progressing, with nearly all steel and foundation work complete.
- The paint shop’s exterior walls and flooring are in the final stages, making way for upcoming utility installations.
- The body shop is nearing completion, with major foundational and structural elements already in place.
With each milestone, Scout Motors is solidifying its presence as a key player in the electric vehicle industry, setting the stage for advanced manufacturing and economic growth in South Carolina. Stay tuned for more updates as the project moves forward.
