The PyroFuse, part of Sensata’s STPS500 series, stands out with its ability to quickly disconnect the load during short circuits or accident-related electrical shocks. Unlike traditional thermal fuses, which can be slower to respond, the PyroFuse delivers immediate protection with a disconnect time of less than 1 millisecond. This rapid response helps protect vehicle occupants and electrical systems alike. Its high breaking capacity—capable of interrupting currents of up to 20,000A at 500V and 16,000A at 1000V—makes it a robust choice for high-energy environments, while its ability to handle 500A of continuous current at 1000V ensures consistent performance in demanding applications.
Beyond its core capabilities, the PyroFuse offers superior sealing performance with enhanced arc suppression, preventing gas release during breaking events and safeguarding nearby components. It can also be paired with Sensata’s high-voltage contactors, allowing for optimized technical performance and streamlined validation testing. This integration enables OEMs to rely on a single supplier for both products, simplifying procurement and enhancing system compatibility.
