Siemens Smart Infrastructure and E.ON Drive Infrastructure have entered into a global framework agreement (GFA) to bolster electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Europe. This partnership aims to enhance the public charging network with advanced technology, ensuring greater accessibility, reliability, and efficiency. With Siemens’ SICHARGE D high-power chargers and the Sifinity Control backend system, E.ON will be able to manage and monitor its charging network with ease. The agreement also introduces several innovations to support the decarbonization of road transport across multiple European markets.

Key Highlights:

  • Global Framework Agreement: Siemens and E.ON sign a contract to strengthen E.ON’s public charging network in Europe.
  • SICHARGE D Chargers: High-power DC charging stations enable up to four charging points per grid connection.
  • Sifinity Control System: Offers backend access for better network management and improved charger reliability.
  • IoT-Enabled Substations: Provide energy management and intelligent infrastructure control.
  • Service Offerings: Siemens provides long-term service options, ensuring optimal network uptime.
  • Multi-country Rollout: Markets include Germany, Italy, Sweden, and the UK, with plans to add over 1,000 new high-power charging points annually.
  • Future-Proof Technology: Includes plans for truck charging and Megawatt charging stations to support a growing EV market.

The collaboration between Siemens and E.ON represents a significant step in meeting Europe’s evolving EV needs. By providing smart charging solutions and backend support, the companies aim to establish a reliable and efficient public charging infrastructure across several key markets. The partnership will facilitate the development of at least 1,000 new charging points per year, contributing to the expansion of sustainable transport options.

Siemens’ charging systems have already undergone testing at E.ON’s e-mobility lab in Essen, Germany, demonstrating their readiness for deployment. Furthermore, the two-year contract ensures the continued growth of EV infrastructure while developing new technologies such as truck and Megawatt charging to accommodate future transportation demands.

Quotes: Arjan Van Der Eijk, Chief Operating Officer at E.ON Drive Infrastructure, praised Siemens, stating: “With Siemens, we have another strong provider on board that supports us with its solutions for the expansion of our public charging network in Europe, serving a wide range of current and future use cases.”

The partnership aligns with Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s commitment to creating a sustainable, digitalized future. Siemens aims to enable E.ON’s success by providing innovative hardware and tailor-made services, thereby contributing to the decarbonization of transportation across Europe.
