Solaris Bus & Coach has secured a contract with Keolis Sverige to deliver 46 battery-electric buses for Sweden’s Dalarna region. The fleet, comprising 19 Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses and 27 Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric models, will support zero-emission public transportation. Deliveries will be staggered, starting in 2025 and concluding in 2026.

- Two models tailored for different routes:
- Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses: Designed for urban routes, seating up to 61 passengers, powered by 600 kWh High Energy batteries.
- Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric buses: Suited for urban and intercity operations, with a capacity for 72 passengers and 700 kWh batteries.
- Enhanced passenger and safety features:
- Air-conditioning, USB charging ports, and ticket machines with card payment options.
- Collision avoidance systems, camera-based mirrors, and driver fatigue monitoring.
- Recognition and innovation:
- The Urbino 12 electric model received the Sustainable Bus Award 2025 in the “Urban Bus” category.
Solaris’ collaboration with Keolis Sverige represents a significant step in advancing sustainable mobility in Sweden. The buses are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including modular drive systems that maximize passenger space and enhance operational efficiency. “Keolis’ order of 46 electric buses is a significant step in sustainable mobility solutions in Sweden,” said Sverre Skaar, CEO of Solaris Sverige AB.
The Urbino 15 LE electric buses will debut in 2025, followed by the Urbino 12 electric models in 2026, serving a mix of urban and suburban routes. Designed to enhance both safety and comfort, all seats in the Urbino 15 LE models will feature three-point seatbelts, and the vehicles will include extensive monitoring systems to ensure secure and efficient operations.
Solaris has been working with Swedish transport operators since 2003, delivering nearly 700 vehicles, the majority of which are low- or zero-emission. This latest contract further solidifies Solaris’ position as a leader in green transportation, aligning with the global push for sustainable public transit solutions.
