Sono Motors Reaches 20,000 Reservations for Its ‘Sion’ Solar-Electric Passenger Car

As of September 1st, Munich-Based Solar Mobility OEM Sono Motors Reported More Than 20,000 Direct Consumer Reservations, With an Average Down Payment of about €2,000

MUNICH, Germany – The Munich-based solar mobility OEM Sono Motors has announced the achievement of reaching 20,000 private reservations of its Sion, with an average down-payment of about €2,000 net. At an expected net sales price point of just €25,126 – the Sion has the potential to become the world’s first Solar Electric Vehicle (SEV) for the masses.

The start of production is planned for the second half of 2023 via contract manufacturing in Finland. Sono Motors’ partner Valmet Automotive has extensive expertise in manufacturing for high-tech OEMs. After a ramp-up period, the partners aim to produce approximately 257,000 Sion vehicles within seven years.
