Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEML) and Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL) have partnered to promote zero-emissions mobility in India. The collaboration combines electric vehicles (EVs) and solar rooftop systems, offering customers an integrated solution that reduces running costs and promotes sustainability. This initiative is a significant step toward India’s Net Zero emissions goal, supported by government initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana for subsidized solar installations.
Key Highlights
- Combined EV and Solar Rooftop solution reduces the total cost of ownership and electricity bills for EV customers.
- Accelerates the payback period for solar rooftop owners who purchase EVs.
- Provides 100% emissions-free power for EVs, decoupling them from the grid.
- Supports India’s journey to Net Zero by combining clean energy with zero-emission vehicles.
TPEML, a market leader in India’s passenger EV segment, will enable its customers to install solar rooftop systems through TPREL. Both companies will also actively promote EVs and solar systems to raise awareness about the benefits of these solutions. Electric vehicles and solar power systems are essential in reducing carbon emissions, with solar energy providing emissions-free electricity for EVs.
According to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of TPEML, “India’s net zero journey can only be achieved by switching to EVs and renewable power. We see significant synergies between the customers of EVs and solar rooftop systems.”
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, added, “Combination of Solar rooftop and EV is a promising, cost-effective, sustainable solution for India and hence naturally complementary.”
Tata Power continues to expand its solar rooftop campaign, ‘GharGharSolar, Tata Power ke Sangh’, and its extensive EV charging network, ensuring accessibility across India. Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. is strategically positioned to drive the adoption of e-mobility and solar power, with 5,600 public charging points across the country, making a substantial contribution to India’s sustainable future.
