Toyota unveils the All-New Grand Highlander: A Midsize SUV with Unmatched Comfort and Versatility

CHICAGO – The all-new 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander was unveiled hours before the start of the Chicago Auto Show, showcasing the latest addition to the Japanese automaker’s successful SUV lineup. The Grand Highlander is a three-row midsize SUV that prioritizes interior comfort, available in three powertrains and grades: a 2.4L turbo gas engine, a 2.5L hybrid with a manufacturer-estimated 34 combined MPG, and a 362 horsepower Hybrid MAX.

As part of Toyota’s efforts towards carbon neutrality, the Grand Highlander Hybrid and Hybrid MAX are part of a lineup that aims to go “beyond zero.” The automaker is committed to offering highly efficient and zero-emission solutions, including ten hybrids, two plug-in hybrids, a new battery electric vehicle, and a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. The Grand Highlander will be the second Toyota vehicle to feature the new “Beyond Zero” badge, following the all-new Prius.

Built on the TNGA-K platform, the Grand Highlander is designed for families, with thoughtful storage areas, ample cargo space, and adult-sized third row. The controls are centered around a standard 12.3-inch multimedia display, with a configurable center console and a wireless charger. In the second and third rows, passengers have access to individual USB ports, smartphone/tablet storage, and cup holders. The Grand Highlander is also equipped with 13 cup holders and seven USB-C charge ports.

In terms of performance and efficiency, the Grand Highlander offers three powertrains in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, with three drive modes and multi-terrain select with three modes. The Hybrid MAX powertrain makes it the most powerful mid-size SUV Toyota has ever built, while the 2.5L hybrid offers the best efficiency in the lineup.

The price and on-sale date of the vehicle will be announced later this summer. It will be designed by Calty Design Studios and exclusively manufactured at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant in Princeton, Indiana.
