Voltpost, EVSE Partner to Expand Lamppost EV Charging

Voltpost and EVSE partner to deploy lamppost EV chargers nationwide, combining American-made hardware manufacturing with an intelligent charging platform and UK deployment expertise.

Voltpost and EVSE LLC have announced a strategic partnership to scale lamppost-based electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the United States. The collaboration pairs EVSE’s Connecticut-based manufacturing capabilities with Voltpost’s charging platform and operator network.

The partnership centers on the Voltpost Air, a Level 2 charger designed for installation on existing lampposts. EVSE manufactures the hardware, which features the company’s patented AutoCoil retractable cable management system. Voltpost provides the software platform and manages deployment partnerships with municipalities, utilities, and private site hosts.

Highlights

  • Voltpost Air chargers install on existing lampposts in hours, eliminating the need for new infrastructure construction
  • EVSE’s AutoCoil cable management system reduces storm damage and protects against vandalism
  • Former Ubitricity executive James Everley joins Voltpost after deploying 2,000 lamppost chargers across the UK
  • AT&T provides wireless connectivity for the charging network’s mobile app functionality

Manufacturing Roots in American Engineering

EVSE LLC operates as a subsidiary of Control Module Inc., an Enfield, Connecticut company founded in 1969. Shannon Ouellette, daughter of founder James Bianco, serves as president.

The company developed its EV charging technology through pilot programs with municipalities and utilities nationwide. Testing partners have included the Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting. EVSE reports its chargers have demonstrated durability in extreme weather conditions.

UK Lamppost Charging Expertise Comes to U.S.

James Everley joined Voltpost as Director of Business Development after leading lamppost charging deployments for Ubitricity, which operates the largest charging network in the United Kingdom. His experience includes:

  • Ubitricity: Oversaw deployment of 2,000 lamppost chargers across the UK, advancing the program from proof-of-concept through regulatory approval to large-scale deployment with Siemens
  • Joju Solar/SureCharge: Won contracts for 1,000 lamppost chargers across London through a partnership with CityEV and FM Conway

Knut Hechtfischer, co-founder of Ubitricity, noted that successful curbside charging deployment depends on reliable hardware, intelligent software, and strong municipal collaboration.
