The Volvo ES90 introduces a groundbreaking, fully electric vehicle that redefines efficiency and convenience. The ES90 marks a significant leap forward for Volvo, driven by its new 800-volt system. Unlike the traditional 400-volt setup, this technology enhances charging speed, boosts overall performance, and improves energy efficiency. The vehicle’s battery management software, developed in-house, shaves charging time from 10% to 80% down to 20 minutes—a 30% improvement over other Volvo electric models. This is partly due to adaptive charging software from Breathe Battery Technologies, a Volvo-backed innovation. Lighter components, such as e-motors, also reduce the car’s weight, amplifying acceleration and range.
Beyond performance, the ES90 prioritizes sustainability. It features 29% recycled aluminum and 18% recycled steel, alongside 16% recycled polymers and bio-based materials. Interior wood panels are sourced from FSC-certified forests, ensuring responsible production. Volvo’s battery passport, powered by blockchain, traces raw materials like lithium and cobalt, revealing the battery’s CO2 footprint. This transparency underscores Volvo’s dedication to ethical sourcing and reduced emissions.
