Volvo introduces its pioneering electric-only truck, the FM Low Entry, marking a significant step towards cleaner, safer city transport. This groundbreaking model, exclusively electric, is engineered for heavy loads and features exceptional driver visibility, setting a new standard in urban transportation efficiency and safety.
Cities worldwide are increasingly focused on reducing emissions, sparking a surge in demand for zero-exhaust emission trucks. The Volvo FM Low Entry, the newest member of Volvo Trucks’ electric fleet, caters to this need. It is specially designed for diverse urban transport tasks, making it a first-of-its-kind model for Volvo, available solely with electric drive.
Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, emphasizes the truck’s alignment with the company’s goals: “This zero-emission truck is a great addition to our electric range, perfectly suited for city transports and designed with the driver in mind. It’s powerful, yet smooth to drive and easy to maneuver. The new Volvo FM Low Entry is perfectly in line with our ambitions to expand our electric offer, enabling even more customers to reduce their carbon emissions.”

The truck’s design prioritizes driver visibility and control, achieving a 5-star Direct Vision rating. This rating, significant in heavy vehicle operation, particularly in London, will be effective from the fourth quarter of 2024.
Adaptable for various urban tasks, including waste management, distribution, and construction, the Volvo FM Low Entry is based on the renowned FM model. The design features a spacious, forward and lowered cab, with easy entry and exit, providing an ergonomic and efficient workspace for drivers in bustling city environments.
Initially available in Europe, Turkey, and South Korea, the truck’s sales commence in the first quarter of 2024, with production starting in the second quarter.
With the launch of the FM Low Entry, Volvo now boasts eight electric truck models, reinforcing its position as a pioneer in heavy electric trucks since 2019. The company aims for 50% of its global truck sales to be electric by 2030.
Key Features of the Volvo FM Low Entry include compliance with the Transport for London’s 5-star Direct Vision Standard, the Volvo Dynamic Steering system for smooth steering, multiple seating options enhancing visibility and safety, ergonomic design with easy cab exit, an advanced Camera Monitor System, and various customization options in height, axle configurations, and technical specifications, such as motor power, battery capacity, range, and charging capabilities.
