MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy management solutions provider, Wallbox, and industry-leading Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) provider, AutoGrid, have teamed up to lower the costs associated with EV driving in the US. Wallbox’s best-selling home EV charger, the Pulsar Plus, will be integrated into AutoGrid’s software, AutoGrid Flex™.
Through the use of the Flex™ platform, utilities can use AutoGrid’s network of DERs, including EVs, to respond to changes in energy generation and spikes in demand. During California’s heatwave in September 2022, AutoGrid’s VPP dispatched more than 100 events and helped to prevent rolling blackouts by controlling residential thermostats, energy storage, microgrids, and electric vehicles/chargers.
“Our integration with AutoGrid’s AI-driven software was a natural partnership,” said Douglas Alfaro, General Manager of Wallbox North America. “This partnership will help drive our mission to transition to EVs and more sustainable energy use.”
“Wallbox adds to AutoGrid’s growing ecosystem of partner EVs and other consumer products that enable our utility customers to make this growing asset class available to the grid,” said Farshid Arman, Sr. Director of Grid Services Partnerships at AutoGrid. “Together, we are leading the path towards a cleaner, less expensive, and more reliable electricity grid.”
The collaboration is expected to begin before summer 2023 and customers in territories including Clean Power Alliance, Sonoma Clean Power, and Pacific Gas and Electric will be able to apply for utility-managed charging incentives ahead of time. More utility programs across the US are in development and will be announced soon.
