Wallbox and Codale Accelerate Mountain West EV Infrastructure Amid NEVI Rollout

Wallbox and Codale Electric Supply expand their partnership to deploy NEVI-compliant Supernova fast chargers across the Mountain West, targeting Q4 2025 projects in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Nevada.

Wallbox has expanded its partnership with Codale Electric Supply to scale electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This collaboration targets the Mountain West region, specifically Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Nevada. Codale is a subsidiary of Sonepar USA.

Highlights

  • Regional Focus: Expansion targets Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Nevada, capitalizing on over $60 million in projected regional NEVI funding.
  • Technology Priority: Deployment prioritizes Supernova DC fast chargers (up to 180 kW) and Pulsar AC units to meet federal uptime standards.
  • Strategic Timing: Partnership aligns with Q4 2025 deployment targets and upcoming state-level infrastructure RFPs.

Expanded Deployment Agreement

Under the new agreement, Codale will prioritize specific Wallbox hardware for its electrification programs to meet the stringent technical requirements of federally funded projects. The primary focus includes the Supernova DC fast chargers—capable of scaling from 60 kW to 180 kW—and the Pulsar family of AC chargers.

Deployment efforts represent a significant scaling of infrastructure. Codale is currently coordinating the replacement of legacy charging systems alongside new installations to ensure compliance with modern efficiency standards.

Key installation sectors include:

  • Public charging stations (targeting NEVI-compliant corridors)
  • Commercial properties
  • Multifamily residential sites

Early Implementation Projects

Initial projects are currently in progress, with deployments accelerating in Q4 2025. These include collaborations with several charge point operators (CPOs) and large commercial portfolios. The integration of Supernova units is critical for these early phases, as their modular design supports the 97% uptime requirement mandated by the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program.

Strategic Regional Growth

This partnership addresses the accelerating demand for EV infrastructure across the Mountain West, driven largely by the release of federal funds. The collaboration positions both companies to capitalize on state-specific infrastructure plans:

  • Utah: The state has moved forward with Phase 1 NEVI awards, supported by approximately $36 million in federal funding allocations.
  • Wyoming: With roughly $27 million allocated for infrastructure, the state is preparing for initial Request for Proposals (RFPs) expected in early 2025, creating immediate opportunities for hardware suppliers.
  • Idaho & Nevada: Both states are advancing corridor build-outs, with Idaho focusing on highway access and Nevada targeting high-density storage and solar integration.

Ignasi Alastuey, Chief Business Officer at Wallbox, stated that the partnership combines Wallbox’s innovation with Codale’s logistics capabilities. The objective is to rapidly scale charging networks and set benchmarks for infrastructure growth.

Bryce Ebel, EVSE Business Development Manager at Codale, noted the goal of delivering future-proof solutions. Ebel highlighted that Wallbox technology provides the performance necessary to secure projects across diverse segments, specifically citing the reliability needed to win competitive public sector grants.
