Wallbox and Hera Group Expand Fast Charging Network Across Italy

Wallbox and Hera Group will install 58 Supernova 120 kW DC chargers across Emilia-Romagna by 2025, expanding Italy’s public charging network under the EU-backed PNRR sustainable mobility initiative.

  • 58 Wallbox Supernova 120 kW DC chargers to be installed across Central-Northern Italy by end of 2025.
  • Hera Comm, part of Hera Group, will manage installation and operations.
  • Supported by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) under the EU’s Next Generation EU program.
  • Focused on strengthening public charging infrastructure in Emilia-Romagna’s key regions.

Wallbox, a global provider of electric vehicle charging and energy management solutions, has partnered with Hera Comm, a Hera Group company, to deploy 58 Supernova 120 kW DC fast chargers across Central-Northern Italy by the end of 2025.

The project will enhance the public charging landscape in key Emilia-Romagna locations—including Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, and Rimini—and is backed by the PNRR, funded by the European Commission’s Next Generation EU program. This initiative is part of Italy’s broader strategy to accelerate the transition toward electric mobility and decarbonized transport.

Strengthening Regional EV Infrastructure

Hera Comm, the country’s third-largest energy supplier serving over 4.5 million gas and electricity customers, will oversee the rollout—covering installation, commissioning, and network operation. Combining Wallbox’s advanced technology with Hera Comm’s strong regional presence, the partnership aims to make fast charging more accessible, reliable, and sustainable across urban and interurban corridors.

Each site will feature the Wallbox Supernova 120, a DC fast charger capable of delivering up to 120 kW. Designed for high efficiency, scalability, and reliability, the Supernova 120 supports network operators in providing robust, cost-effective charging for both daily commuters and long-distance drivers.

Public-Private Collaboration Driving EV Growth

“This collaboration with Hera Group is a strong example of how technology, local expertise, and government incentives can come together to accelerate EV adoption,” said Ignasi Alastuey, Chief Business Officer at Wallbox. “With Supernova, we are enabling the rollout of a robust, future-ready fast charging network in some of Italy’s most strategic regions.”

The partnership underscores the critical role of public-private collaboration in developing charging networks that can sustain the growing EV market. By expanding access to fast charging in underserved areas, Wallbox and Hera Group are helping ensure that Italy’s mobility ecosystem is ready for its electrified future.
