XCharge Deploys Fast Chargers at Mexico’s Soriana Stores

XCharge and FAZT Charging partner to deploy high-power EV infrastructure at Soriana supermarkets across Mexico. The project targets 1,000 charging points by 2030 using multi-standard C6EU fast chargers.

XCharge Europe and XCharge North America have partnered with FAZT Charging to deploy high-power electric vehicle charging infrastructure at Soriana supermarkets in Mexico. This collaboration utilizes Soriana’s retail footprint to expand the national EV charging network.

Highlights

  • Targeting 1,000 fast and ultra-fast charging points by 2030.
  • Initial phase includes 30 stations operational by Q1 2026.
  • XCharge C6EU units deliver 60 kW to 200 kW power output.
  • Hardware supports NACS, GBT, and CCS1 connector standards.

Infrastructure Expansion Strategy

The project leverages the locations of over 780 Soriana stores to establish high-traffic charging hubs. The rollout begins with 30 stations scheduled for operation by the first quarter of 2026.

An additional 80 stations are planned by the end of 2026. This expansion aims to activate 440 charging points during the initial stage. The long-term objective involves deploying 1,000 charging points by 2030.

The first station, branded SuperFAZT, is operational at Soriana Híper Cumbres in Monterrey. Additional active locations include Morelos, Valle de Bravo, and Ramos Arizpe. Future sites are planned for Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro, and Puebla.

Technical Specifications

XCharge is supplying its C6EU charging units for this initiative. These chargers offer scalable power outputs ranging from 60 kW to 200 kW. The technology accommodates various EV models through multiple connector standards:

  • NACS: Primarily for North American market vehicles.
  • GBT: Compatible with Chinese brands entering Latin America.
  • CCS1: Standard for many international EV manufacturers.

The power allocation aligns with specific site requirements. Highway corridor stations will utilize 150-200 kW units to enable rapid charging. Locations with longer dwell times, such as shopping centers, will operate 60-120 kW units.

Network Operations and Monitoring

The infrastructure integrates with the FAZT mobile application. This software manages station location services, payment processing, and real-time session monitoring.

Maintenance and Reliability

The system employs an AI-driven management platform for operational supervision. Automated maintenance logs track charger performance to facilitate preventive service. This approach aims to ensure consistent uptime and reliability across the network.

Alignment with National Mobility Goals

This deployment supports Mexico’s National Electric Mobility Strategy. The national framework targets 50% electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle sales by 2030. Widespread infrastructure is a critical component in meeting these adoption targets.
