XCharge has officially introduced its GridLink EV charging system to the European market, showcasing the new solution at the Intercharge Network Conference (ICNC) in Berlin. After successful deployments in North America, the system has been fully adapted to meet EU standards. It features advanced battery technology and enhanced safety protocols, including a liquid-cooled thermal management system and integrated fire suppression.
Key Highlights
- GridLink is now available in Europe, featuring technology tailored to EU standards.
- The system uses a proprietary 215 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that can deliver 194 kW of charging power from only 44 kW of grid input.
- Its battery is scalable to 430 kWh and allows the charger to operate independently during power outages.
- Advanced safety features include a liquid cooling system and the world’s first built-in, pack-level fire suppression fluid tank.
- GridLink supports direct photovoltaic (PV) integration, allowing solar energy to be used for DC fast charging.

Addressing Grid Limitations with Innovative Technology
At the heart of the GridLink system is XCharge’s proprietary 215 kWh LFP battery. This innovative design allows the unit to provide up to 194 kW of DC charging power while only requiring a 44 kW AC input from the electrical grid. This makes it an ideal solution for locations with limited grid capacity or where expensive infrastructure upgrades are not feasible.
The system is also scalable, with the battery unit capable of being expanded to 430 kWh. This ensures that the charger can function independently of the grid during blackouts, enhancing energy resilience. For user engagement and potential advertising revenue, GridLink is equipped with a 55-inch integrated screen. According to Albina Iljasov, Head of Europe at XCharge, “GridLink empowers operators to generate new revenue streams, enhance grid resilience, and ensure multi-layered safety across operations.”
Raising the Bar on EV Charging Safety
GridLink establishes a new benchmark for safety in the EV charging industry by combining state-of-the-art thermal management with sophisticated fire suppression systems. Its liquid cooling system offers 2.38 times more heat dissipation surface than standard designs, keeping the unit at a stable 37 °C even during high-load operations or in extreme weather conditions.
Each battery pack is equipped with four sensors for early hazard detection and an automated ventilation system that disperses flammable gases before they can reach critical levels. Uniquely, GridLink incorporates the world’s first built-in “fire suppression fluid tank,” providing pack-level fire suppression. This feature minimizes potential damage and allows for quick and cost-effective replacement of individual battery packs. The system is also designed for easy maintenance, requiring only two technicians for routine servicing, and supports modern communication standards like OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1.
New Revenue Potential for Solar Site Operators
Beyond its grid and safety benefits, GridLink is designed to support seamless photovoltaic (PV) integration. This allows the system to channel solar energy directly into DC fast charging, providing a practical method for utilizing on-site power generation. This is especially beneficial for sites where feeding electricity back into the grid offers limited financial returns. By directly linking solar assets to charging infrastructure, GridLink helps operators generate significant operational and economic advantages.
