XCharge North America, the U.S. subsidiary of XCHG Limited (NASDAQ: XCH), has announced the opening of a nearly 3,000-square-meter assembly and testing facility in Silla, near Valencia, Spain. The plant is the company’s first European production site and will support its North American operations by diversifying supply chain capacity and advancing research into grid-independent charging technology.
Highlights
- First European facility: The Silla plant gives XCharge a nearly 3,000 m² assembly and testing center for its most advanced charging hardware outside of its existing manufacturing base.
- North American supply chain impact: The expansion is designed to support U.S. operations by reducing single-source dependency as domestic demand for high-power charging outpaces local grid upgrades.
- Hardware already deployed in the U.S.: XCharge’s C7 ultra-fast charger and GridLink battery-integrated system are active in projects across Vermont and New York.
- Spanish government backing: National, regional, and local officials attended the opening ceremony, citing alignment with reindustrialization and decarbonization goals.
U.S. Infrastructure Context
The Valencia facility opens against a backdrop of rising U.S. demand for high-power EV charging that frequently exceeds local grid capacity. XCharge’s product line addresses that gap through battery-integrated designs that reduce grid dependency.
The company’s C7 ultra-fast charger delivers up to 400 kW at a maximum of 600A. The units were selected by Cellerate Power for a public charging site in Winhall, Vermont, which opened in late October 2025 and represents the first North American deployment of the C7 hardware. The chargers support both NACS and CCS connectors.
XCharge’s GridLink system takes a different approach, delivering approximately 200 kW of charging output from just 44 kW of grid input by incorporating onboard battery storage. A large-scale GridLink deployment is planned for Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where 44 units will provide 9.46 MWh of energy storage across 88 parking spaces in partnership with Energy Plus. That project is expected to go live in Q2 2026.
Valencia Facility Details
The Silla plant will serve as a primary assembly and testing center for XCharge’s charging hardware. The company characterized the expansion as complementary to domestic sourcing requirements, noting that scaling EV charging infrastructure depends on globally integrated supply chains.
The opening ceremony drew representatives from multiple levels of Spanish government. Jaime D. Peris Pascual, Special Commissioner for Reindustrialization of the Spanish Government, and Felipe Javier Carrasco Torres, Regional Secretary of Industry, Trade and Consumer Affairs of the Valencian Government, attended alongside Vicente Zaragozá Alberola, Mayor of Silla. Officials highlighted the facility’s alignment with regional reindustrialization goals and decarbonization targets.
A panel discussion moderated by Juan Bueno, CEO of Movea Consulting, included representatives from AVIA (the Automotive and Mobility Cluster of the Valencia Region) and AEDIVE, alongside XCharge’s European sales leadership. Industry supporters included Acciona, Repsol, Iberdrola | bp pulse, and Zunder, among others.
XCharge Leadership on the Expansion
“The new Silla plant represents a major step forward in XCharge’s expansion in Spain and reinforces our commitment to a more efficient and sustainable European supply chain,” said Aatish Patel, President and Co-founder of XCharge North America. “Far beyond its operational function, this facility reflects our vision of building a stronger value chain founded on engineering excellence, continuous innovation, and a long-term commitment to the energy transition. Europe is central to that vision and stands as a cornerstone of our global business and of a cleaner, more resilient energy future.”
