Xos Expands Mobile Charging Hub to Three Capacities

Xos introduces 210 kWh, 420 kWh, and 630 kWh mobile charging Hub configurations starting at $158,000, targeting Class 1-2 through heavy-duty commercial electric vehicle fleets.

Xos, Inc. has introduced three new capacity configurations for its Xos Hub mobile energy storage system. The expanded lineup includes 210 kWh, 420 kWh, and 630 kWh options, with pricing starting at $158,000.

The Los Angeles-based company announced the new configurations on January 26, 2026. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q1 2026.

Highlights

  • Three capacity tiers now available: 210 kWh for light-duty fleets, 420 kWh for medium-duty operations, and 630 kWh for heavy-duty applications
  • Entry-level pricing starts at $158,000 for the 210 kWh configuration targeting Class 1-2 commercial vehicles
  • 420 kWh model maintains sub-10,000 lb weight, allowing towing by standard ¾-ton pickup trucks without a CDL
  • Modular design supports connecting up to 10 units for combined capacity exceeding 6 MWh through a single grid connection

Configuration Specifications

The 210 kWh Hub targets Class 1 and Class 2 vehicle applications including delivery vans, service trucks, and light-duty commercial fleets. This entry model features two CCS1 charging heads with NACS compatibility available.

The 420 kWh Hub represents a 50% capacity increase over the previous 280 kWh generation. It can charge 15-20 commercial vehicles per cycle while remaining under 10,000 lb for standard towing. This variant includes four CCS1 charging heads.

The 630 kWh Hub addresses medium-duty and heavy-duty electric truck applications. Xos engineers maintained the same form factor as the lower-capacity variants despite the increased energy storage.

Certification and Deployment

All three Hub configurations will hold UL 9540 A certification in 2026. This safety standard for energy storage systems enables deployment as both portable rapid-deployment infrastructure and permanent fixed installations.

The company states simple installations can be completed in days compared to six to eighteen months typical of conventional utility interconnection and fixed charging infrastructure installation.

“We are expanding charging access, supporting diverse fleet types, and making it more flexible to rapidly deploy charging infrastructure as the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow every year,” said Aldan Shank, Director of Mobile Charging Products at Xos.

Field Deployment History

Previous Hub deployments with customers including SparkCharge, CalTrans, and Xcel Energy have tested the platform across applications ranging from emergency roadside charging to infrastructure support during grid events and utility fleet operations.

The scalable architecture allows operators to start with initial deployments and expand capacity as electric fleets grow while using a single utility interconnection point.
