ZF Aftermarket Launches EV Repair Kits for E-Drivetrains

ZF Aftermarket adds E-Mobility Repair Kits for e-motors, mechatronics, inverters and reducers, plus 100-plus e-axle kit variants, as its EV parts range covers about 92 percent of Europe's top 20 EV parc.

ZF Aftermarket is releasing more than 100 electric axle drive repair kit variants in the coming weeks alongside new E-Mobility Repair Kits for e-motors, mechatronics, inverters and electric drive unit reducers, backed by a parts portfolio the company says covers about 92 percent of Europe’s top 20 EV parc. The additions extend the Maintain-Repair-Replace strategy ZF Aftermarket laid out earlier this summer for the powertrain lifecycle, and are being presented at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026. According to the release, the kits draw on ZF’s production of more than six million OEM electric motors and are intended to give independent workshops a component-level alternative to full assembly replacement.

What Is in the E-Mobility Repair Kit Range?

Each kit is built for a defined technical application and bundles the components needed for that repair, according to ZF Aftermarket. The company positions the range as a way to reduce complexity and close what it calls a growing service gap as electrified vehicles age. Where repair is not the right route technically or economically, ZF’s remanufactured portfolio provides replacement options that the company describes as OE-quality.

The mechatronics units are remanufactured using original processes, components, testing and flashing, the company says, and are intended to restore transmission function with less downtime than a full transmission replacement. The inverter kit targets the power electronics that convert DC current into AC current for electric motor control. The reducer kit makes bearing components available for electric drive applications where a component-level repair is technically appropriate.

EV Coverage Beyond the Powertrain

Beyond drivetrain repair, ZF Aftermarket reports that its EV portfolio covers approximately 92 percent of Europe’s top 20 EV parc, the population of electric vehicles in operation. The offering spans braking, steering and suspension, damping technologies, e-drive fluids, repair solutions and electrified powertrain applications.

The company pairs the parts range with its e-Power Expert program and the ZF [pro]Tech workshop concept, which provide high-voltage training, technical information and service support. The new kits build on the electric axle drive repair kits ZF Aftermarket first introduced for independent workshops in 2023 and later expanded to the U.S. and Canada.

Preparing for Chinese Vehicle Brands

ZF Aftermarket is also preparing for a more diverse European EV parc as emerging vehicle brands expand their market presence. By the first quarter of 2027, its European catalog for Chinese vehicle brands will include up to 200 references. By the end of 2027, the company aims to cover 10 of the most popular models from these manufacturers in Europe, reaching approximately 30 percent workshop demand coverage.
