Honda has unveiled the 2026 CR-V, featuring enhanced standard technology and introducing the new TrailSport Hybrid trim. This update aims to strengthen the CR-V’s position as America’s best-selling SUV over the past 25 years.

Key Highlights

  • Larger 9-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are now standard.
  • Introduction of the TrailSport Hybrid trim, combining rugged design with Honda’s hybrid-electric system.
  • Enhanced traction management for all-wheel drive models, improving off-road performance.
  • The CR-V continues to be a leader in safety with standard Honda Sensing suite and advanced airbag technology.

The 2026 Honda CR-V comes with several technology upgrades as standard features. These include a larger 9-inch HD touchscreen, which is 2 inches bigger than the previous model. Additionally, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are now standard, making it easier for drivers to connect their smartphones. A wireless phone charger is also included, enhancing convenience for users.

One of the most significant additions to the 2026 CR-V lineup is the TrailSport Hybrid trim. This is the first time Honda has combined its rugged TrailSport design with the award-winning two-motor hybrid-electric system in an SUV. According to Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, “The combination of rugged design elements, incredible on-road dynamics, and hybrid powertrain makes the Honda CR-V a more compelling SUV than ever before.” The TrailSport Hybrid features a more aggressive exterior design, including a silver skid garnish, black door handles, and orange TrailSport badges. It also comes equipped with Continental CrossContact ATR all-terrain tires for improved traction on various terrains.

2026 Honda CR-V Adds TrailSport Hybrid

For all-wheel drive models, including the new TrailSport Hybrid, Honda has enhanced the traction management system. This improvement allows for better performance off-road by increasing the driving force to the most tractive tires and applying braking force to slipping wheels when a difference in wheel rotation speed is detected.

The Honda CR-V has been America’s best-selling SUV for the past 25 years, and it continues to set sales records. In the previous year, it surpassed 400,000 units sold, marking an all-time high for the model. The introduction of hybrid-electric vehicles is a key part of Honda’s strategy, with hybrids now representing 30% of all Honda brand sales.

Safety remains a top priority for Honda, and the 2026 CR-V is equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies as standard. This includes features like Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The CR-V also features next-generation front airbags and a total of 10 airbags for enhanced protection.
