BMW Launches 20% IONNA Charging Discount for EV Drivers

BMW of North America has launched a preferred pricing program offering BMW and MINI drivers 20% off IONNA charging sessions through September 30, 2026, applied automatically via Plug & Charge or the My BMW App.

BMW of North America has introduced a preferred pricing program at IONNA charging locations across the United States, giving BMW and MINI electric vehicle drivers 20% off charging sessions through September 30, 2026. The discount is available immediately to drivers who initiate sessions using Plug & Charge or the My BMW App, with no separate cards, subscriptions, or manual activation required.

Highlights

  • BMW and MINI drivers receive 20% off charging sessions at U.S. IONNA locations through September 30, 2026
  • Discount is automatically applied when sessions are initiated via Plug & Charge or the My BMW App
  • IONNA now operates more than 1,000 charging bays nationwide
  • The next-generation BMW iX3 arrives in the U.S. later this year

How the Discount Works

The pricing program is integrated directly into BMW’s in-vehicle digital ecosystem. Drivers who begin a charging session through Plug & Charge or the My BMW App receive the 20% discount automatically at the point of session initiation, with no additional cards, subscriptions, or manual activation steps. BMW frames the implementation as a “charge-and-go” experience aimed at reducing friction as public charging becomes a routine part of EV ownership.

The offering covers BMW and MINI electric vehicles charging at IONNA’s public DC fast-charging network in the United States.

BMW’s Position on Charging Infrastructure

In the announcement, Shaun Bugbee, Executive Vice President, BMW of North America, tied the program to the company’s broader EV strategy.

“BMW firmly believes in an electric future, and it’s no secret that reliable high-speed charging infrastructure remains essential to the continued growth of the electric vehicle market,” Bugbee said. “We currently offer one of the broadest portfolios of premium electric vehicles in the U.S., with the next-generation BMW iX3 arriving in the U.S. later this year. As our electric vehicle offerings continue to expand, initiatives like this help ensure our customers enjoy a seamless ownership experience wherever they travel.”

IONNA Network Status

IONNA is the charging joint venture founded by eight global automakers, including BMW. The network now operates more than 1,000 charging bays across the United States, with additional growth planned. BMW says recent strategic partnerships, including large-scale deployments at premium, high-traffic locations, are expected to accelerate network expansion over the coming years.

IONNA’s charging sites are built for DC fast charging and support both NACS and CCS connectors. BMW describes its participation in the network as part of a broader strategy spanning home, workplace, and public charging.

The company says it will continue working with IONNA and its fellow founding partners to scale public charging access while maintaining vehicle-side technology integration for BMW drivers.
