Acura NEXERA Vision Concept Previews RDX Hybrid Design

Acura unveiled the NEXERA Vision concept at Monterey Car Week, introducing a new design language and lighting signature that will reach production beginning with the fourth-generation RDX Hybrid.

Acura has unveiled the NEXERA Vision, a concept coupe making its global debut August 14, 2026, at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, with a design language set to reach production on the fourth-generation RDX Hybrid. The concept was developed at the Acura Design California studio in Los Angeles under Yasutake Tsuchida, the brand’s creative director and vice president of auto design. Acura says the NEXERA Vision draws on a challenger positioning the company has claimed since its founding 40 years ago, and its new lighting signature will carry into next-generation production models. The concept then moves to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Concept Lawn on August 16, 2026.

A New Design Direction for Acura’s Next Era

The NEXERA Vision arrives at Monterey Car Week as a design study rather than a production preview, establishing exterior and interior language that Acura intends to apply across future models. The company frames the concept against its 40th anniversary.

“We are using the 40th anniversary of Acura as a springboard to our future, with the Acura NEXERA Vision serving as the design language for future Acura models,” said Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design. “Our goal with this new design direction is to define Acura performance through disciplined proportions, sculpted form and the seamless integration of advanced technology, creating an expression that is both progressive and authentic to the brand.”

Exterior Design, Aerodynamics and Brakes

Finished in Matte Titanium, the coupe is defined by a wide stance, a long dash-to-axle ratio and a one-motion cabin. Dual-hinge butterfly doors handle entry, and the bodywork combines sculpted surfaces with an aero-channel fascia.

An active rear spoiler manages airflow across the rear decklid, which Acura says improves aerodynamic efficiency, high-speed stability and braking performance. Carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes sit behind 22-inch centerlock wheels — a first for Acura — carrying a 3D directional design and a matte anodized finish with forged carbon fiber inserts.

Forged carbon also appears on the aero-channel fascia, rear diffuser, rocker panels and inner door structures.

What Is Acura’s New Lighting Signature?

The concept’s lamps are concealed behind its bodywork and become visible only when illuminated, an approach Acura calls “phantom lighting” that leaves the exterior surfacing uninterrupted. The ultra-thin headlights and taillights take their form from the brand’s “A” mark.

That signature is the element with the clearest production path: Acura says it will appear on future models beginning with the next-generation RDX Hybrid.

“To reinforce the new Acura styling identity, we developed a unique lighting signature inspired by the Acura ‘A’ mark—an unmistakable design element created to make this new era of Acura instantly recognizable,” said Tsuchida. “The NEXERA Vision sets the course for the next generation of Acura design, and we are committed to evolving that direction with clarity, consistency and purpose across future Acura products.”

Inside the NEXERA Vision Cockpit

Acura describes the interior as balancing spaciousness with a precision-focused, driver-centered layout. The front seats are integrated into the floor in a fixed position, lowering the driver’s seating position; the pedals and steering wheel adjust to the driver instead.

The black-and-white cabin pairs forged carbon and gloss black finishes with high-contrast pink accents.

Sustainable Materials Define the Cabin

Materials throughout the interior include recycled aluminum, Alcantara incorporating certified post-consumer recycled polyester, and CircuLeather, a genuine leather the company describes as designed to support a more circular material lifecycle.

“Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in how premium quality and performance are defined, and the Acura brand is embracing innovative material technologies that bring fresh possibilities to the customer experience while supporting broader environmental ambitions,” Tsuchida added. “These advancements help reduce the carbon footprint associated with our products and create new opportunities to challenge conventional ideas of quality, inspiring a new perspective on what premium can be.”
