Amazon has made its largest-ever electric heavy goods vehicle order, selecting over 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks. This historic deal is also the largest electric truck order in Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ history. With over 140 units destined for the UK and the remainder for Germany, the eActros 600 trucks will help Amazon transport millions of packages annually, aligning with the company’s net-zero carbon emissions targets.

This significant deployment is set to begin within 18 months, with the eActros trucks serving high-mileage routes in Amazon’s middle-mile network. These routes include transport between fulfillment centers, sort centers, and delivery stations in both the UK and Germany.

Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK Limited, highlighted the partnership, stating: “This order of more than 140 eActros 600 for the UK signifies [Amazon’s] understanding of the importance these trucks will have as they drive to reach their net-zero carbon emissions targets.”

Karin Rådström, Chairwoman of the Board of Management at Daimler Truck AG, described the collaboration as a pivotal moment for sustainable transportation, noting Amazon’s commitment to alternative drives.

As a technological leader in the heavy-duty electric truck market, the eActros 600 is expected to set new benchmarks in sustainable logistics, with its range, capacity, and charging flexibility making it ideal for long-haul operations.
