- The facility aims to identify key innovations and secure Ampere’s competitiveness in the EV market.
- This initiative is part of the Lardy Technical Center’s complete transformation into an all-electric hub.
- The new E-Tech Campus will provide specialized training in electric vehicle technologies.
A New Center for Battery Innovation
Operational since late September, the cutting-edge laboratory is fully dedicated to battery cell prototyping and evaluation. The 3,000 m² building houses more than 120 pieces of state-of-the-art equipment, including a 600 m² dry room. Its activities are centered on cell prototyping and electro-physico-chemical characterization, which enables the assessment of battery cell performance, durability, and fast-charging capabilities.
This laboratory will play a strategic role in developing Renault Group’s next generation of electric vehicles. It allows Ampere to identify promising technologies and strategic partners early on, with the goal of gaining control over the entire battery value chain. The facility strengthens Ampere’s ability to guide technological choices that will secure the competitiveness and sustainability of its future electric vehicles.
In parallel with this development, the E-Tech Campus of the ReKnow University will soon open to offer training dedicated to electric vehicle technologies for Ampere and Renault Group employees, with plans to eventually extend these programs to other companies. This initiative is key to the ambition of making the Lardy Technical Center a true center of excellence in the electric vehicle field.

Lardy’s Transformation to an Electric Hub
Established in 1951, the Lardy Technical Center has historically supported the development of internal combustion powertrains. Its transformation toward electric mobility is now fully complete, positioning the site as a central pillar of Renault Group’s and Ampere’s electric vehicle ecosystem.
This strategic shift was structured around three pillars: a complete site redesign, the evolution of skills, and the launch of new high-value-added activities. The Battery Cell Innovation Laboratory and the E-Tech Campus embody this new momentum, playing a key role in anchoring electric-focused activities and contributing to job sustainability at the site.
