Autel Energy has introduced a new high-power charging system, the MaxiCharger DT1000 series, through a strategic collaboration with Phoenix Contact. This advanced system is the first to integrate Phoenix Contact’s latest 1,000A liquid-cooled CCS Type 2 cable and connector technology, significantly expanding its capabilities for demanding, high-power charging applications.
Key Highlights
- Autel Energy has partnered with Phoenix Contact to launch a new megawatt-class charging system.
- The MaxiCharger DT1000 series now integrates Phoenix Contact’s 1,000A liquid-cooled CCS Type 2 cable and connector system.
- This technology delivers the highest charging performance currently available on the CCS standard, targeting heavy-duty vehicles and commercial fleets.
- The system features enhanced thermal stability and is built on a flexible, modular architecture for various deployment needs.
High-Power Charging with Commercially Proven Standards
The integration of Phoenix Contact’s new system brings megawatt-level performance to the widely used CCS standard. The technology features an integrated liquid-cooled cable and connector platform that uses an optimized water-glycol cooling loop to ensure stable thermal performance. This innovative cable design supports a continuous 800 A and a 1,000 A boost operation. Despite its high power capacity, the cable remains lightweight and flexible for easy operator handling. The connector is equipped with Pt1000 temperature sensors, insulation monitoring, and IP67 protection for enhanced safety and reliability.
“With the new generation of the cooled CCS HPC connector, Phoenix Contact delivers a charging power of up to 1 MW in boost mode, significantly narrowing the performance gap between CCS and MCS charging stations,” stated Dipl.-Ing. Joachim Pucker, Senior Director E-Mobility Sales Network at Phoenix Contact. “Together with Autel, we have integrated this technology into the highly efficient MaxiChargers to ensure an optimal charging experience for customers.”
System Architecture and Operational Impact
The MaxiCharger DT1000 series is engineered to meet critical design goals, including sustained high-current delivery, efficient thermal management, and robust system-level compatibility. The system is built on a modular power electronics architecture, which allows for flexible scaling from mid-range configurations to full megawatt-level deployments to suit various site requirements.
The liquid cooling is applied directly at the connector interface, guaranteeing stable thermal performance even during prolonged high-load operation. The MaxiCharger DT1000 can be deployed alongside Autel’s latest Liquid-Cooled modules, such as the MaxiCharger DS600L and DS600/480. This provides flexible system configurations for high-throughput locations, including intercity bus terminals, logistics hubs, and large fleet depots, minimizing infrastructure complexity while maximizing equipment use.
A Strategic Collaboration for E-Mobility
This partnership showcases the importance of industry collaboration in advancing e-mobility solutions. By integrating proven high-current CCS2 technology, Autel Energy is accelerating infrastructure readiness today while preparing the industry for the megawatt-class demands of tomorrow.
“By integrating Phoenix Contact’s new CCS2 connector into our MaxiCharger DT1000, we can bring this technology into a complete system—from modular cabinets to dispensers—enabling the highest charging performance on CCS where it’s needed today,” said Andreas Lastei, Vice President of Autel Energy Europe. “Only by working together can we bring the best solutions to market and make e-mobility truly mass market.”
