BYD, a global leader in new-energy vehicles, has reached a significant milestone with the production of its one-millionth Dolphin Surf, a compact electric vehicle (EV) that has redefined the A00-segment. The milestone vehicle rolled off the production line at BYD’s Xi’an, China factory, just 27 months after the model’s debut, making it the fastest-selling car in its class. Known as the SEAGULL in China and DOLPHIN MINI in Latin America, the Dolphin Surf has driven the growth of the global compact EV market with its advanced technology, efficient design, and accessibility.

The Dolphin Surf combines practicality and innovation, offering a spacious cabin and competitive boot capacity despite its compact 3,990mm length. Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, it delivers agile handling for urban environments while maintaining the interior space of larger vehicles. In Europe, the model comes in three trims: Active, Boost, and Comfort, with battery options of 30kWh or 43.2kWh and motors up to 115kW, achieving a 0-100km/h sprint in 9.1 seconds. The Comfort trim offers a 322km WLTP range and premium features like a 360-degree camera and wireless charging.
BYD’s Executive Vice President, Stella Li, emphasized the vehicle’s role in advancing sustainable mobility, noting its 20+ months atop sales charts in its class. The Dolphin Surf’s standard features, including a 10.1-inch rotatable touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, and Vehicle-to-Load capability, make it a practical choice for urban and suburban drivers.
