CATL has unveiled Shenxing Pro at IAA Mobility 2025, a groundbreaking lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery designed to be the optimal solution for Europe’s e-mobility needs. The world’s first LFP battery of its kind, Shenxing Pro delivers sustained high voltage supply, maintained power, and advanced safety features, including no fire and no smoke after thermal runaway. It sets new industry benchmarks in safety, lifespan, range, and superfast-charging performance, positioning it to address the key concerns of the European electric vehicle (EV) market.

Addressing European EV Market Needs
The adoption of electric vehicles in Europe is accelerating rapidly. According to data from SNE and MarkLines, Europe’s EV penetration rate climbed from 23% to 26% in the first half of 2025 and is projected to reach 29% by the end of the year. The International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts that European EV sales will hit 4 million units this year.
Despite this growth, a 2025 McKinsey survey identified persistent consumer barriers, including high costs, battery lifespan, range limitations, charging infrastructure gaps, and battery safety. The Shenxing Pro battery was engineered to directly overcome these challenges by delivering superior performance and safety tailored to Europe’s diverse driving conditions.
Breakthrough Technology in Two Variants
Powered by CATL’s proprietary NP 3.0 Technology, Shenxing Pro represents a significant leap in battery innovation. It is offered in two distinct variants to meet different consumer needs:
- Shenxing Pro Super Long Life & Long Range Battery: This is the world’s first LFP battery to achieve a 758 km WLTP range and a record-breaking 12-year / 1,000,000 km lifespan. With only 9% degradation after the first 200,000 km, it is an ideal solution for Europe’s leasing markets.
- Shenxing Pro Super-Fast Charging Battery: This variant can charge 478 km of WLTP range in just 10 minutes, which is equivalent to 0.8 km per second. It delivers thrilling performance, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 2.5 seconds even at a 20% state of charge (SOC). It also maintains exceptional performance in extreme cold, achieving 410 km of range in 20 minutes at –20°C. This model is backed by a warranty of up to 10 years / 240,000 km.
Advanced Safety and Design
Both Shenxing Pro variants utilize CATL’s NP 3.0 technology, which ensures best-in-class safety. This technology enables a sustained high-voltage supply for over an hour after thermal runaway begins, maintaining the vehicle’s speed and allowing the driver to navigate to a safe location with no flames and no smoke. This enhanced safety is crucial as the industry moves toward L3 and L4 autonomous driving, where vehicle systems bear more responsibility.
Shenxing Pro also incorporates CATL’s innovative Wave cells, which feature a unique design that allows cooling and fixation from any direction. This innovation provides omnidirectional vibration suppression, boosting the battery pack’s stiffness by 25% and doubling its durability. The cell design breaks traditional Cell-to-Body (CTB) limitations, achieving an impressive 76% pack volume efficiency.
Commitment to Europe’s EV Ecosystem
CATL continues to deepen its presence in Europe, transitioning from exporting batteries “to Europe” to manufacturing “in Europe, for Europe.” With over €11 billion invested in its European operations, the company has created thousands of jobs and collaborated with local universities to foster talent.
