General Motors (GM) has announced that its BrightDrop electric commercial vans will now be marketed under the Chevrolet brand, bringing these advanced EVs to one of the industry’s largest commercial vehicle sales and service networks. This strategic move is set to enhance convenience for commercial customers while expanding Chevrolet’s EV portfolio.

Key Highlights:

  • BrightDrop electric vans will be available through Chevrolet’s extensive commercial sales and service network.
  • The BrightDrop EVs boast a GM-estimated 272-mile range and advanced safety features.
  • All Chevrolet dealers can sell and service BrightDrop vans, provided they meet specific commercial EV requirements.
  • The move strengthens Chevrolet’s role as a leading commercial brand, combining advanced EV technology with dependability.
  • BrightDrop was initially launched in January 2021 and integrated into GM Envolve in 2023.
  • The vans will continue to be produced at the CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.

Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet, emphasized the significance of this integration: “With the addition of BrightDrop to the Chevrolet lineup, we are combining advanced EV technology with the dependability and widespread accessibility that only Chevrolet can offer.”

BrightDrop’s integration into the Chevrolet portfolio is expected to enhance brand growth opportunities and provide customers with access to more comprehensive service and support. This expansion is part of GM’s broader strategy to advance an all-electric future.

Sandor Piszar, vice president of GM Envolve, added, “The Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 and 600 will continue to feature state-of-the-art technology designed to help enhance efficiency, reduce tailpipe emissions, and optimize service and delivery operations.”

The branding evolution also highlights the potential that GM and Chevrolet see for BrightDrop in the electric fleet market, further bolstering CAMI’s role as Canada’s first large-scale EV manufacturer.
