Circle K has taken a significant step in supporting electric mobility by opening its first electric vehicle (EV) charging-only location in Europe. Situated in Gårda, near central Gothenburg, Sweden, this new site is not only a milestone for the company but also the largest EV charging-only convenience location in Circle K’s global network.

Key Highlights:

  • First EV charging-only location in Europe
  • Largest in Circle K’s global network
  • Ten ultra-fast 400 kW chargers
  • 100 m² (1,076 ft²) convenience store
  • Located near Sweden’s E6 motorway
  • Chargers can power vehicles from zero to 80% in about 15 minutes
  • Store offers fresh pizza, kebab, and award-winning sausage
  • Follows the launch of Circle K’s largest EV charging hub in Järna, Sweden
  • European network includes over 3,000 branded chargers
  • Circle K has approximately 17,000 locations worldwide

The Gårda location is strategically placed alongside Sweden’s E6 motorway, a busy route with over 100,000 vehicles passing daily. It also sits near areas where more than 10,000 people work, making it a convenient stop for commuters and local employees. The site features ten ultra-fast 400 kW chargers, which can charge electric vehicles from zero to 80 percent in roughly fifteen minutes, minimizing wait times for drivers.

Inside, a 100 m² (1,076 ft²) convenience store enhances the experience with fresh pizza, kebab, and Circle K’s award-winning sausage. Customers also benefit from Wi-Fi and seating, offering a comfortable spot to relax during charging. Hans-Olav Høidahl, EVP European Operations and Global eMobility at Circle K, emphasized the site’s role: “This location marks a significant step in our ambition to win the EV customer—offering easy and convenient charging with a complete retail experience.”

This launch builds on Circle K’s recent opening of its largest EV charging hub in Järna, Sweden. With over 3,000 branded chargers across Europe and approximately 17,000 locations worldwide, Circle K is expanding rapidly to meet growing demand. As electric vehicle use increases, the company is committed to advancing infrastructure and convenience, solidifying its position in the shift toward electric mobility.
