Delphi has teamed up with Everrati Automotive, a specialist in electrifying classic cars, to launch a new training program focused on electric vehicle (EV) conversions. The initiative is designed to help independent garages capitalize on the booming market for converting internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric powertrains.
The exclusive IMI TechSafe training module from Delphi Academy will draw on Everrati’s experience in high-quality EV conversions. “This training showcases EV re-engineering best practice and Everrati is a leading example of how to do it at the highest quality and OEM-grade standard,” said Luke Garratt, UK Technical Services Manager at Delphi.

Delphi and Everrati aim the training at technicians looking to future-proof their skills as EV adoption accelerates. The course, expected to launch in mid-2024, will cover:
- Customer needs assessment
- Mechanical and electrical integration
- Thermal management
- Weight distribution
- EV technology and recycling
Tony Fong, Head of Engineering at Everrati, emphasizes the need for specialized knowledge: “It’s essential that you assess the suitability, compatibility, and controllability of EV components.”

Everrati sees the partnership with Delphi as key to scaling EV conversion responsibly. “We have an opportunity to really drive a movement to deal with the 1.4 billion ICE vehicles on the road today by electrifying and making use of that rolling stock,” said Rhodri Darch, Everrati Managing Director.
The new training module will also support technicians in maintaining IMI TechSafe status, a UK government-backed endorsement for safely working on complex automotive technologies like EVs.
