PowerGo, a leading European Charge Point Operator (CPO), has introduced Spain’s first dynamic pricing system for electric vehicle (EV) charging, launched on May 13, 2025, in Barcelona. This innovative system ties charging costs to hourly electricity market prices, enabling EV drivers to save money and plan charging sessions more effectively. By aligning prices with market conditions, PowerGo promotes cost-efficient and eco-friendly charging, supporting Spain’s transition to sustainable mobility.

Key Highlights:

  • Dynamic Pricing System: Prices vary hourly based on the European Power Exchange (EPEX), reflecting electricity supply and demand.
  • Cost Savings: Drivers can charge at lower rates during off-peak hours or when renewable energy supply is high.
  • Real-Time Price Insights: The PowerGo Charge app offers transparency, showing upcoming hourly rates for smarter planning.
  • Sustainability Focus: Encourages charging when renewable energy is abundant, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
  • Expanding Infrastructure: PowerGo operates over 50 charging points in Spain, with 126 more planned.
Dynamic EV Charging Prices in Spain

The dynamic pricing model is available at PowerGo’s more than 50 charging stations across Spain. Prices fluctuate based on EPEX market trends, with lower rates during periods of high renewable energy availability or low demand. This approach not only reduces costs for drivers but also supports a greener grid. The PowerGo Charge app enhances user experience by providing real-time price updates, helping both private drivers and fleet operators optimize their charging schedules.

PowerGo is also expanding its footprint in Spain, with new fast chargers installed in Vic (320 kW) and Palma (120 kW). A recent public tender from SEITT will see 24 ultra-fast chargers added around Madrid. With over 1,700 charging points across Europe, PowerGo partners with businesses like Maisons du Monde and SEITT, managing installation and maintenance without upfront costs for partners.

As a subsidiary of PowerField, a Dutch renewable energy company, PowerGo powers its stations with solar energy, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. The company’s growth in Spain and beyond positions it as a leader in Europe’s EV charging landscape.
