FedEx has added eight Mercedes-Benz eVito electric panel vans to its Singapore delivery operations, bringing electric vehicles to more than a quarter of its local pickup and delivery fleet. The 2024-model eVito vans replace diesel-powered vehicles and build on an earlier deployment of previous-generation eVito panel vans.
Highlights
- FedEx now operates 39 electric vehicles in Singapore, with the latest additions projected to cut tailpipe CO₂ emissions by approximately 38 tons annually.
- The new eVito vans offer a 923 kg load capacity and an estimated range of up to 321 km per full charge, suited to Singapore’s urban delivery routes.
- The combined EV fleet avoids an estimated 186 tons of CO₂ per year, supporting the company’s goal of carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
- Solar energy at the FedEx South Pacific Regional Hub has supplied more than half of the facility’s electricity since January 2025.
Vehicle Specifications and Features
The 2024-model Mercedes-Benz eVito panel vans are owned and operated directly by FedEx. Key features include:
- 360-degree parking camera for safer maneuvering in tight parking and loading spaces
- Multibeam headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus for enhanced visibility
- 270-degree rear swing doors for easy cargo access
- Sliding doors on both sides for faster deliveries
- Load capacity of 923 kg with an estimated range of up to 321 km per full charge
Emissions Reduction and Sustainability Goals
The eight new EVs are projected to reduce tailpipe CO₂ emissions by roughly 38 tons annually, based on replacing eight diesel-powered Vito 114 CDI vehicles over typical annual operating distances. Combined with existing eVito panel vans, the 39-vehicle electric fleet now avoids an estimated 186 tons of CO₂ each year.
These reductions align with the company’s global target of achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2040. The FedEx South Pacific Regional Hub, where the EVs are stationed, further supports these efforts through on-site solar panels that have generated more than half of the facility’s electricity since January 2025.
Regional Fleet Electrification Strategy
“At FedEx, sustainability and innovation go hand in hand. Our expansion of electric vehicles in Singapore is a testament to this — it’s about transforming urban logistics to be safer, smarter, and more efficient, while reducing emissions and supporting Singapore’s sustainability push,” said Eric Tan, managing director, FedEx Singapore.
FedEx continues to invest in fleet electrification across the Asia-Pacific region, with recent EV deployments in Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and South Korea. The company’s broader sustainability initiatives include aircraft modernization, sustainable fuels, renewable energy integration, efficient facility design, route optimization tools, and carbon sequestration research.
