Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) proudly announced the successful delivery of its pioneering battery-electric Freightliner eM2 trucks, marking a significant leap in the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) within the medium-duty commercial vehicle segment. Manufactured in Portland, Oregon, these vehicles have begun servicing customers nationwide, showcasing DTNA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and technological innovation.

The introduction of the Freightliner eM2 to PITT OHIO’s fleet represents a strategic move towards reducing carbon emissions in the logistics sector. The two Class 7 eM2 trucks will operate alongside PITT OHIO’s existing conventional trucks, supporting the company’s Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) freight shipping operations from their Cleveland, Ohio terminal. This transition not only underscores PITT OHIO’s commitment to environmental stewardship but also highlights the growing viability of electric trucks in commercial settings.
DTNA’s long-term vision involves leading the shift towards a more sustainable future in transportation, aiming to transition to CO2-neutral vehicles across key markets by 2039, conditions permitting. “The delivery of the eM2 is a testament to our ongoing commitment to our growing portfolio of zero-emissions vehicles,” remarked David Carson, senior vice president of sales and marketing at DTNA.

Since 2018, DTNA has been at the forefront of commercial electric vehicle development, introducing a range of electric models, including buses and vans, designed to meet various operational needs. The eM2, with its impressive range and versatility, is the latest addition to this innovative lineup, supported by Fyda Freightliner’s network, ensuring a smooth transition for customers like PITT OHIO towards greener, more efficient vehicle solutions.
